National W@W Award Success

Scothosts Limited were nationally recognised at the 5th annual 2003 W@W Awards, staged at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel as winners in the Best Use of Broadband category.
Managing Director Mike Clarke who collected the prestigious trophy and the first prize cheque of £2000 commented, “I am delighted to be receiving this award, which highlights the innovative and flexible nature of Scothosts and all of our staff. I would also commend all of the great broadband awareness work undertaken by the e-business team at Scottish Enterprise Fife who has strived to highlight the tangible benefits broadband can offer”. Also, for the second year in succession one of Scothosts website development projects has won the local W@W Award, which is awarded to the most innovative e-buisness project in Fife and carries a first prize of £1000. Following on from the success of AMC Electronics at last years ceremony, the 2003 award was won by Bookwolf, following an 8 month development project by Scothosts. What the judges were looking for: Best use of Broadband Sponsored by Broadband for Business: • used their Broadband internet connection in an innovative and beneficial way; • improved their customer's use of Broadband through novel or innovative services or content; or • helped in the rollout and wider uptake of Broadband in Britain. Technologies included are always-on connections with available bandwidths greater than 128kbs, such as xDSL, Cable, fixed point-to-point radio, Wi-Fi, UMTS and Satellite. Services and technologies delivered using Broadband might include streamed video or audio, Voice over IP, security or process monitoring, software or eBook distribution. Examples of innovation in this category include: • Delivering time-critical business information • Providing rich, compelling consumer content, perhaps interactively • Providing complex business services through an Application Service Provider previously available only to large Enterprises. |
