Last month Scothosts launched an advanced search engine optimisation service which is already reaping huge rewards for 2 clients.

Earlier this year Scothosts took the ambitious step of adding a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) specialist to our team. Stuart has already demonstrated his knowledge and understanding of the major search engines with his work on the following client projects:

Business Mailing (London, UK)

This client operates an e-commerce website at businessmailing.co.uk which provides a range of UK wide direct marketing data for instant online purchase. Since their launch in 2003 they have ploughed a considerable percentage of their marketing costs into pay-per-click campaigns with Google Adwords and Overture. Whilst these schemes have provided a large degree of highly relevant traffic and provided the company with many new customers, Business Mailing realised that they could save considerable costs by achieving a high search engine ranking without having to pay sponsored link costs.

The main remit set to Scothosts was to achieve front page rankings within Google on the phrases “Email Marketing UK” and “Email Lists UK”; which were two of their most expensive monthly phrases within the PPC campaigns, carrying monthly costs in excess of £2,000 per month (£24,000 per year).

At time of writing, the company is listed on the front page within Google’s search results on both phrases. Ranked 2nd position on “Email Lists UK” out of 11.2 million searches and ranked 7th position on “Email Marketing UK” out of 14.3 million searches.

In order to achieve this Scothosts spent 4 weeks carrying our extensive optimisation on the website and also initiated a link building campaign, which will continue over the next 12 months in order to consolidate their position. The budget for this project was £2,000 for the optimisation work with a monthly cost of £150 for the ongoing work. As a result of our work, the annual savings to the company will be in excess of £20,000 per year for these two phrases alone.
