The finalists for the most prestigious event of the Fife business calendar have been announced, with 22 companies from across the Kingdom short listed for top industry honours. Scothosts Limited, Fife’s national award winning website development agency have been recognised in the final 3 companies for the best performing business (under 25 employees) category, alongside Thos. McGilvray & Son and their own clients Cameron Harris Design & Build. The fourth Fife Business Awards are due to be held on Firday 5 March at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, and will be hosted by TV presenter Jackie Bird. The awards, which are spearheaded by Scottish Enterprise (SE) Fife in conjunction with principal sponsors the Royal Bank of Scotland, are viewed by local organisations as the premier event in the calendar for recognising industry excellence. They will spotlight the various successes which Fife businesses, from a myriad of sectors, have achieved over the past 12 months. As well as receiving a specially designed trophy, each award winner will also pick up a £5,000 prize package, consisting of cash and intervention support from SE Fife. Around 330 guests attended the last awards ceremony, which honoured companies including Raytheon Systems Ltd, Morton of Pitmilly, Softlite Ltd, Babcock, Fife Fabrications and Proclad International. Scottish Enterprise Fife chief executive Joe Noble commented: “These awards, which are now in their fourth year, have become a landmark event for the local business community and I am delighted, on behalf of Scottish Enterprise Fife, to once again be hosting them. “The quality of the entrants for this year’s awards has again been exemplary and I am delighted that we have so many shining examples of business excellence in wide variety of sectors and geographical spread taking part. “The awards ceremony itself is always a superb occasion, consistently attracting more than 300 guests, and I am confident that this year’s celebration will be no exception.” The Royal Bank of Scotland’s Director, Commercial Banking, Stephen Bremner said: “The 21 companies which have been shortlisted for this award have all shown the drive, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit that is essential for any successful business. We are delighted to be associated with these awards which recognise the achievements of these companies and the wealth and job creation they bring to the area.” Fife Business Award winners will also automatically qualify for entry to SE’s Enterprising Scotland Awards in the summer of 2004, which will showcase the best companies the country has to offer.
